Rob Ryan

Rob Ryan is a visual artist currently living and working in London.

“ I was mainly into new wave and punk until I was about 16 when living in Birmingham. I got into the whole two tone / mod revival thing in 1979 so really got into ska and Motown, but in 1980 started going to Wigan and that was it, I caught the last 18 months. Not only northern but then modern soul, funk, seventies, gospel etc and always been rooting around looking for new stuff to hear. It’s incredible how much incredible soul music was made in just 15 or so years (1965-1980) enough to listen to for a dozen lifetimes - it still surprises me !” - Rob
